RIP Andy Whitfield
Andy Whitfield, best known as Spartacus in Spartacus: Blood & Sand, sadly passed away on Sunday after being diagnosed with Lymphoma 18 months ago. He was 39.

Snake Man Puts Live Snakes Through His Nose
"This is 'Snake Manu', an Indian man who makes a living from this eye-watering trick of inserting live grass snakes into his nostrils and pulling them out of his mouth."
Manu, 31, from the southern city of Chennai, claims to have experimented with almost all varieties of snakes, including cobras, common kraits, sand boas and rat snakes but said his favourite was the cobra because of its ferocious agility....umm WTF??!!!

Skydive From Space Update 4
YES!!! It's back on!!!
If you remember from our post back in October 2010 'Skydive From Space Update 3', the Red Bull Stratos project was halted due to a petty lawsuit.
Just today, I was checking to see if there had been any changes and I read this on the Red Bull Stratos website:
OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON CLOSING OF LEGAL CASE
June 30, 2011
The legal action filed by Daniel Hogan and PerDan, LLC in the Superior Court for the State of California for the Country of Los Angeles entitled Per Dan, LLC, et al. v. Red Bull GmbH, et al., Case No. BC 436456 has been mutually resolved by the parties out of court and the lawsuit has been dismissed.
Now get on and make history.....
Felix Baumgartner, the man attempting to set the new record, with Joe Kittinger, who has held the record for over 50 years.

Brick Lane Market in the Eighties
British photographer, Colin O'Brien has an amazing collection of images of East London life at the (in)famous sunday Brick lane market. All in all, there hasn't been much change compared to 2011, except 1980's clothing is now called 'vintage'.... See more of his great images HERE.

RIP Brian Haw
Brian Haw, one of the most recognised protestors and peace campaigners of the last 10 years has sadly died.His residence on Parliament Square in London from 2001-2010 in protest of UK and US foreign policy and subsequently the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq became a symbol for the anti-war movement.

A Fully Functioning Bionic Hand Implanted on 24 year old
Patrick,a 24-year-old Austrian,decided to have his dysfunctional hand amputated and replaced with a bionic hand. He lost the use of his left hand after being electrocuted at work. Here he demonstrates the extra movement his new bionic hand has given him,opening a bottle and tying his shoelaces,and tests a prototype hand wich will give him additional wrist movement....
Multiple signals can be read simultaneously, enabling the patient to twist and flex their wrist back and forward, again using the same brain signals that would have powered similar movement in the real hand.

RIP Nate Dogg
Just heard the sad sad news that Nate Dogg has died, aged 41.
Nate Dogg suffered a stroke in 2007, and then succumbed to a second one in 2008. Since then he had been undergoing physical therapy.Although he did not release much solo material, his collaborations with hip hop's finest found him great success.

From November 9th 2007 - November 13th 2008, Christoph Rehage walked 4646km through China. His original goal had been to walk to Germany, but decided to stop.

Pete Eckert is an incredible guy...he went from being an accomplished carpenter and artist with a bright future to becoming completely blind and needing a guide dog. This however, did not stop him from taking up photography and becoming completely hooked...
"I view my work during the event of taking the shot in my minds eye. I “see“ each shot very clearly, only I use sound, touch, and memory. I am more of a conceptual artist than a photographer. My influences come from my past memory of art and what I now find in the world at large."
"I am trying to cut a new path as a blind visual artist. Sighted people don’t help me make the art. They do give me feedback before I do the final large prints. I shoot the image, develop the film, and I do the contact print."
"I do what I call sample prints. There is a clear dividing line. I need the feedback loop to afford making large final products. I could cut sighted people completely out of my process. I could do a write up about the event of taking the photos."
"The negatives, contact sheets, and write up about the event could be the final product. I like doing the dramatic large prints better. I want sighted people involved. It is a good bridge between the blind and sighted. I want to be included in the world and accepted."
